Battle of the Gods

We know Greek mythology to talk mainly about the Olympians, but these weren’t the first generation of gods to rule the otherworld. They gained their supremacy in a ten-year-long war of gods; a battle between them and the previous generation of ruling gods, the Titans.

The action of this great war is brought directly to your reels when playing Playtech’s Battle of the Gods. Played on 25 paylines, the gods are teamed against each other and will boast a range of bonus features while they fight; including Wild and Scatter symbols, Free Spins, an X bonus feature, and scattered temple symbols.

Theme & Background

When you start playing you’ll be directed to the inside of the Pantheon, where the battle that took place centuries ago still lives on in its inscriptions. At the centre you’ll find the five reels with 25 paylines and filled with symbols of the Greek gods. The symbols with a red backdrop represent the Titans; Chronus, Atlas, Coeus, Gaia, and Rhea. The blue symbols are the Olympians; Chaos, Zeus, Uranus, Poseidon, and Hestia.

At the bottom of the screen, on a dim coloured panel, there are the buttons you’ll need to adjust your bets during gameplay. The darkness in the colour pattern is brought out also by the eerie and mystifying soundtrack.

As we mentioned above, the bottom panel is your key interest before spinning those reels. The 25 paylines are adjustable, and you can choose to play on just one line if your preferred. You can also decide to change the bet per line, if you wished, starting at a bet of $0.01 per line right up to $8.00 per line. In the middle of the panel you’ll find the total amount you bet displayed, as well as the value of your win after each successful round.

The Bet Max button to the right of the bottom panel allows you to play at the optimum bet, while the Auto Play button will spin the reels for up to 99 consecutive times in a row, without you needing to click the Spin button yourself, or alter your wager value in between spins.

Wild Symbol

The Wild symbol can stand for any other symbol, except for the Scatter, in order to complete the combination and gain your wins. Landing on two or more Wilds on an active payline also has its own payout, which we’ll outline in the Payouts section below.

Scatter Symbol

The Scatter of the game is the Pantheon symbol. When two or more land on anywhere on the reels then an additional win is earned and added to the total winnings. Since these do not have to appear on a payline to be paid out, then they can be won at the same time as regular wins.

If 3 or more wins Pantheon Scatter symbols appear on the reels at the same time, then the Free Spins feature is activated.

Free Games Feature

Land on three or more Scatter symbols to trigger the Free Games feature. A panel will pop up, enabling you to click on the Click to Start button to reveal the grand entrance to the Free Games feature. Click Continue, and let the Free Games begin.

Free Games can be played in two modes; Gods Mode and Titans Mode. We’ll go over what each sub-feature entails (and the amazing wins you can gain from them).

Gods Mode

The Free Games begin in Gods Mode. Starting on the side of the Olympians, you are granted an unlimited amount of free spins. But when a Chronus symbol appears (it’s the symbol with Extra Wild written on it) on the third reel, Gods Mode stop and Titans Mode begins.

Also in this feature, all the symbols on the reels are the God symbols – the ones with the blue background – the Wild symbol, and the Chronus symbol. The Chronus symbol, like the Wild, can also substitute all symbols but not the actual Wild symbol itself.

Titans Mode

During this feature, you’ll be granted 8 cumulative spins from the Titans. Once these spins are up then the Free Game feature ends and the Main Game begins again. However when a Chaos symbol appears on reel three during Titans Mode, this mode stops and Gods Mode begins again. But if it appears during the last spin of the Titans Mode, then the Gods Mode cannot be triggered.

Also in this feature, all the symbols on the reels are the Titan symbols, and all have a red backdrop. The Wild symbol and the Chaos symbol also are the only ones to appear during this feature. The Chaos symbol can substitute all symbols during gameplay, but not the actual Wild symbol itself.

The X-Feature

When any God feature is stacked on all five positions of reel 2, 3, and 4, then the X-Feature is triggered. This immediately adds a multiplier of 5x to the total amount you won during that spin in addition to all other winnings.

This feature cannot be triggered during any one of the Free Spins Modes.

Payouts and Wagering Limits

The payouts of the game are godly, and we’re incredibly impressed by what each have to offer.

As we mentioned earlier, the Wild symbol has its own payouts in this game and award 10,000 coins when landing on five of a kind. When you complete a combination of five Chronus or Chaos symbols in Gods Mode and Titans Mode, relatively, then you’ll be awarded with 1,500 coins. The Pantheon Scatter symbols will get you 200 coins when landing on five of these.

Zeus and Atlas both pay 400 coins at their highest payout value. Uranus and Coeus will pay 250 coins each, while Poseidon and Gaia will give 150 coins. Lastly, Hestia and Rhea will both pay 100 coins.

If you’re unfamiliar with the gods and what they look like, then have a look at the Info section on the game itself to have a clearer idea.
