The Wacky Panda slot from Microgaming has an endearing Chinese theme going on. Part of that cultural diversity that slot providers are so well known for. Wacky Panda has 5 reels and just 1 payline. It’s of medium volatility and has a bet range between $0.01 – $15. As you can observe, not exactly the best option for highrollers. The slot has a maximum win of 16,665 coins – which admittedly isn’t a massive amount. There isn’t anything much about Wacky Panda which is of particular note. It has three different coin levels, and that’s about it. Still, it’s a cute enough slot for a few minutes of fun. Read the below review for all the details you nee
Medium volatility slots can be suitable for a range of players, depending on your bet per spin.
The advantage of the 1 payline is that high-paying symbols will often land some kind of win, irregardless of their position on the reels.
The bet-levels are adjustable, given that you can bet 1 coin per spin, 2 coins or 3 coins. Flexibility is always a big plus in slot wagering.
Wacky Panda has a low bet limit, even at maximum level, which isn’t an attractive feature for most highrollers.
At the end of the day – 1 payline is just 1 payline. Not a lot of winning options available there.
No matter which way you look at it, this is a really basic slot from Microgaming. It won’t be making headlines any time soon.

Theme & Background
We’re not so sure what’s so wacky about this panda – except for his antics on the reels. The slot has a very simple and basic design with an obvious connection to China (and a little bit Japan). After all, the cutest (and most defenseless) bear to ever roam the face of this planet originates from China. The background of this slot is all about mimicking that lush green landscape common to Asia, complete with bamboo shoots. The panda’s favorite food, snack and everything in between.
Perhaps the most entertaining factor of this slot is that there are 5 different Panda symbols. Each Panda symbol has its own unique payout, but they’re also uniquely designed. One of them has a watermelon hat on top of his head, under one is wearing cool sunglasses and another one is mid-slip on a banana. They’re a unique character, kind of like these animal-based Japanese characters that become huge hits worldwide.
Although the pandas are cute, this slot doesn’t offer much else in terms of graphics or design. It definitely doesn’t hold a candle compared to more graphically complex Microgaming slots like Immortal Romance or Forbidden Throne. You’d need to turn a blind eye to a lot of things.
As we’ve already mentioned in the introduction, Wacky Panda doesn’t have a lot of special features. And by ‘not a lot’, what we actually mean is ‘none’. Seriously, this slot has absolutely no free spins, no scatter symbols, no wild symbols, no respins, no bonus games. Zilch. But, don’t worry, this isn’t necessarily bad news.
It’s all about the stripped down gameplay.
It does, however, have that one magical payline. The way this one magical payline works is simple. You spin the three reels you have, they stop spinning. Any high-paying symbols that land on the 1 payline (a horizontal line), irregardless of what symbol position they land on, will be considered a win by the slot. The win is then multiplied by the bet-line win. High-paying symbols are basically all the Panda symbols. And that’s pretty much it.
This feature, if you can call it that, can obviously be triggered on any spin. It depends what symbol you land on the payline. The multiplier win then works like so:
- 1 high-paying symbol = 10x total bet win
- 2 high-paying symbols = 15x total bet win
Although there isn’t much to this slot, the multipliers are actually really high. While this might not sound like much, take a look at the paytables below to check out what the coin values are for this slot. You’d be surprised by some of the numbers you’ll see, even for just the one coin bets.
Payouts and Wagering Limits
The above paytable, you’ll notice, goes from left to right depending on the amount of coins you’re betting per spin. The highest paying symbol is the red panda (because it’s the rarest – get it?). The second highest is the banana-peel panda.
Although the maximum 3 symbol win of 3333 coins is the best possible scenario, the other payouts are decent enough to keep the gameplay interesting. The maximum that you can win from this slot is 16,665 coins. Not exactly a grand slam amount. But still something to write home about. If your stars are in alignment, a spin on this slot could actually really pay-off.
The RTP for this slot is between 95% – 96%. It just borders the standard amount expected of most contemporary slots, so that’s a positive factor. The bet range is of $0.01 – $15. This amount varies a great deal, due to the three coin levels that players can choose between. Wacky Panda is of medium volatility, meaning it pays out ‘big’ wins every now and then, a smaller wins more frequently. This is good for some players, and not so good for highrollers.
All things considered, this slot isn’t exactly going into the hall of slot fame. There are far better slots out there which have better graphics, features and payouts. However, Wacky Panda is overall a fun, sweet little product from Microgaming. It has a fun theme, and you can actually squeeze out some big wins from it if you’re lucky enough. A 15x multiplier is nothing to scoff at, that’s one thing for sure.
